The official Rockland County website is looking a whole lot more Rockland-ish than it once did. There behind the text on the county site’s homepage is a photograph of the historic Lafayette Theatre, in Suffern. The image is noteworthy in part because of what it replaced: a photo taken from the center of the Bear Mountain Bridge that showed parts of Putnam and Orange counties but offered not even a glimpse of Rockland. (Read all about that discovery in this story from the end of last month.)
Screengrabs of the old and new Rockland County sites:
County officials said the appearance of the website was a holdover from the previous administration; soon, they said, they’d get around to updating it. Well, sometime in the last few weeks, they did. Gone is the image of neighboring counties. In its place, a shot of a local movie house that, importantly, is in Rockland County.
Crisis averted. Case closed. Moving on.
