News from the Putnam County Democratic Party on their recent nominations:
During a standing-room-only convention Wednesday night, the Putnam County Democratic Committee met to interview legislative and judicial candidates for the 2013 elections.
In its first vote, the convention unanimously elected Cathy Croft of Southeast as its new leader and Chairwoman. Ms. Croft also serves as Chair of the Southeast Democratic Committee.
“This is an exciting time to lead the Putnam County Democratic Party”, said Croft. “We are growing, and will bring balance to Republican one-party-rule in Putnam County.”
John McCarron, a Mahopac native and Putnam County attorney, was nominated as the Democratic candidate for the Putnam County Legislature, District 6. District 6 encompasses most of the Town of Southeast. McCarron is a Democrat with conservative roots, and brings experience, youth, and a wealth of ideas to reinvigorate the Putnam County Legislature.
Bernie Kosberg of Mahopac, was nominated to run as Putnam County Legislator in District 9, which includes most of Northwest Carmel. Mr. Kosberg is a fresh face in local politics. His innovative approach to government will add a new voice and vision to the Putnam County Legislature.
Judicial candidates for New York State Supreme Court each gave convention speeches, including Putnam County veteran attorney Victor Grossman. Grossman, a Putnam litigator with 34 years of courtroom experience helping real people and solving real problems, said he will work hard as Judge to make the right decisions after hearing all perspectives.
Putnam Democratic Committee members will be going door-to-door across Putnam County to collect petitioner signatures starting June 4th.
